Chris
is originally from Lancaster, Texas. He was a part of an award winning
band program under the direction of Joe Dolkos. Chris also was a student in
the private studio of Stephen Shoop.
He attended
East Texas State University (now Texas A&M - Commerce) and earned a Bachelor’s Degree as a Music Education Major. While there, Chris performed under the batons of Dr. Don McLauren and Mr. Tom Bennett. His
lesson teachers included Mr. Ed Jones and the late Dr. Neill H.Humfeld. He
also served as one of the drill assistants in the marching band.
Chris marched Contrabass Bugle in the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps from Rockford,
Illinois. Following this, he was a brass and visual instructor with
the Lone Star Drum and Bugle Corps of Texas.
As a band
director, Chris has worked at Kingsville ISD (Texas), Weslaco ISD (Texas), and Music Education Services (Illinois). While
at these places, he served in various capacities as a band director and was part of the great success all these programs
have had.
While in
the Rio Grande Valley, he performed in various ensembles, including the South Texas Opera Association and The
Rio Grande Valley Wind Ensemble. Chris was also the principal tubist for eight years with the Valley Symphony Orchestra,
performing under the batons of Dr. Carl Seale and Mr. Peter Doborovsky.
His professional
affiliations have included Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, International Tuba-Euphonium
Association, International Trombone Association, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Chris currently resides
in Des Plaines, Illinois with his wife Kelly, son Zach, and four cats.
